Charles Louis Hock

November 29, 1925 — August 5, 2006

HOCK, Charles Louis, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, August 5th, 2006 at Morningview Transitional Care. He was born in Baltimore, MD, November 29, 1925. When he was 16 months old, his family returned to New Orleans, which was their home. He was active in the Boy Scouts and received the rank of Eagle. When he was 16, they returned to Baltimore, where his Dad was Plant Manager for U. S. Industrial Chemical Company. He joined the Army Air Corps Cadets and when the war ended, he came home and enrolled at Johns Hopkins University where he graduated in 1949 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He came to work for ALCOA, met and married Henrietta Farley in 1951. He was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church for over 50 years. He was an avid sailor and he and his beloved wife sailed Ft. Loudon Lake for over 40 summers. He is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Ethelyn Hock and sister, Lynn Hock. He is survived by wife, Henrietta; daughters, Suzy (Don) MacMorris, Elizabeth City, NC and Sally (Steve) Brooks, Crestwood, KY. His grandchildren are, Gwyneth MacMorris, Lacey Brooks, and Collin Brooks. A private burial will be held, followed by a memorial service at St. Andrew’s on Saturday, August 12, at 3:00 p.m. with The Rev. Martha Sterne and The Rev. Eugene Haws officiating. A reception will be held following the service in the Great Hall of the Church. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew’s Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 4368, 314 W. Broadway, Maryville, TN 37802.
