Charles H. Ross, Sr.

Charles H. Ross, age 91 of Maryville, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2004, in Maryville, TN at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born in Blount County on November 5, 1912, to George W. Ross and Ann Thompson Ross. He graduated from Maryville High School, attended the University of Tennessee, and married Margaret Marie Strong, from Virginia, in 1941. Living on the Ross family farm, at 1900 Wilkinson Road, he operated Cloverdale Dairy and won many pasture awards as a test demonstration farmer. After entering real estate with his brother Lanty in 1963, he operated his own firm, Charles Ross Real Estate until retirement. He enjoyed attending Broadway United Methodist Church, the Everett Senior Center and the Blount Memorial Hospital Wellness Center. He also enjoyed hiking and traveling. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Margaret S. Ross in 1990; brothers, Sam, John, Lanty, and George Ross; sisters, Tennie Robinson, Emma Trotter and Ruth Ross. Survivors include: son, Charles H. Ross, Jr. and Sue Chatham of Huntsville, AL; daughter and son-in-law, Betsy Anne Ross Harris and Robert A. Harris of Houston, TX; grandchildren, R. Scott Harris of Austin, TX and Cheryl Harris Sharman of NYC; great grandchildren, Austin, Annabelle and Ainsley Harris of Austin, TX. Other surviving relatives in the Tennessee area include nephew, Ike Robinson of Nashville; nieces, Marinell Ross Waggoner of Maryville and Margaret Ross Lindley of Johnson City; great niece, Nell Waggoner; great nephews, Thad Trotter, John Trotter and Andrew Waggoner. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Moore officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, next to his mother and wife. The family will receive friends at the family home following the interment service.
