Charles E. Gariety, Md

GARIETY, MD, Charles E., age 79, died on January 6, 2008, following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on December 15, 1928, in Sidney, OH, to John and Mary (Duttlinger) Gariety. He earned a medical degree from St. Louis University. On June 21, 1954, he married Jane Rita Bowling. He was a general surgeon in Piqua, OH, for 23 years, retiring and moving to TN in 1989. Surviving are his wife, Jane, Alcoa, TN; son, Jerome, Knoxville, TN; son, Patrick, Springfield, OH; daughter and husband, Anne and Craig Grissom, Alcoa, TN; son and his wife, Phillip and Pam Gariety, Columbus, OH; son, Charles, Columbus, OH; and daughter and husband, Elizabeth and Sam Baker, Olympia, WA. He is further survived by 8 grandchildren, and a brother and wife, John and Louise Gariety, Naples, FL. In addition to his parents, his son, Jack, and two sisters, Clara and Mary Helen, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held for Dr. Gariety, Thursday, January 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima in Maryville with Father Robert Monnin and Father Patrick Resen.
