Charles E. ''Derby'' Benson

BENSON, Charles Edwin (Derby), age 90 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 25, 2006, at his home. He was retired from ALCOA. Mr. Benson was a member of Williamson Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Benson and Hazel Caldwell Benson Helton; wife, Goldie Holloway Benson; daughter-in-law, Martha Benson; great-grandson, Justin Paul Benson. He is survived by son, Joe E. Benson; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald R. and Camilla Benson of Maryville, and Paul E. and Tammy Benson of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Gwen, Marshall and Travis Benson and wife Paige of Maryville, Steve Benson and wife Patty of Hixson, TN, Matthew Benson and wife Stacey of Charlotte, NC and Brooke Benson Carico and husband Nathan of St. Louis, MO; great-grandchildren, Drew Benson, Landon, Ryan, Laura and Evan Benson, Tristan, Ravyn, Tennyson, and Autumn Carico. Mr. Benson’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to his care givers, Terri, Shirley, and John and to Blount Memorial Hospice and Cancer Center for their compassion and support. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Thierbach, Rev. Matthew Benson and Rev. Gaye King officiating. The interment will follow in Williamson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Friday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
