Charlene Frye Walker, age 61 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010, at her home. She was an active church and choir member of Piney Grove Baptist Church for over 40 years and was a Sunday School teacher for over 25 years. She was very courageous, gave hope to others, and was an inspiration to all she came into contact with and has given God all the glory, honor and praise in all that she experienced. She was instrumental in petitioning for legislation that resulted in a 2004 TN State Law requiring all nursing homes and assisted living facilities to have sprinkler systems. She was co-owner of Photography by Don White Walker since 1971, Founder and Executive Director of Hope for Today Cancer Support Group since 1998. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Hattie Fine Frye and brother, Jimmy Frye. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Don White Walker; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Keith Hackney; son, Ryan Walker all of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Bill Nichols of Smyrna, GA, Annette and Craig Manley of Maryville; 3 grandchildren, Trey, Claire and Cade of Maryville; nephew, Michael Frye of Baltimore, MD. Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Adrian Jones and Rev. Alvin Patton officiating. The interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Church.
