Catherine Davis Armfield

ARMFIELD, Catherine Davis, after a five year battle with breast and bone cancer, 76 year old Catherine Davis Armfield died Thursday morning, October 6, 2005, at U. T. Medical Center. Despite her cancer, she was an avid Lady Vols fan, traveler, golfer, cyclist, bridge and tennis player. Catherine was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church. The daughter of the late William and Margery Davis, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Armfield; brother, Ernie Davis, and half-sister, Dorothy Holland. She is survived by her three children, Elaine Armfield Guffey, Cynthia Gillespie, Dr. Richard Armfield, daughter-in-law, Dr. Lora Armfield; son-in-law, Carl Guffey; her six grandchildren, Christy, Trevor, and Spencer Gillespie, Connor, Margaux, and Brenna Armfield; her sister-in-law, Francetta Davis; nephew, Gary Davis and his family. A memorial service will be held at New Providence Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon, October 9th, at 3:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the American Cancer Society Fund, c/o Jill B.
