Carmen (Goland) Koch, 81 of Maryville, TN, passed away March 16, 2013, at her home. She was born to the late Stephen and Bernice Goland December 31, 1931. She attended high school in Milwaukee, and Barry College in Miami. She was a frequent companion to her great-uncle and aunt, Dr. Earl L. and Agnes (Sundlie) Baum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Koch. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her own and her extended family of friends. A gifted seamstress, cook, and extraordinary hostess she had a warming smile and loving embrace for all fortunate enough to cross her path. She is survived by her brother, James Goland; as well as five children, Elizabeth Vance, of Ft. Lauderdale; Karen Koch, of Maryville; Margaret Drinkwater, of Janesville, WI; Edward Koch, of Janesville, WI, and Barbara Koch, of Denver. She also leaves five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, on Sandy Springs Road. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting, as an expression of sympathy, that memorial contributions may be sent to Blount Memorial Hospitals Hospice and Palliative Care Department, 1095 E.
