Carlotta Snelson Stewart

Charlotta Snelson Stewart, 95, formerly of Maryville, TN, peacefully passed away on August 5, 2022. She was residing in Indianapolis, IN at the time. She was the daughter of J. Frank and Ruth Snelson of Alcoa, TN. Charlotta was born on January 1, 1927, in Maryville TN. She graduated from Alcoa High School in 1945. Soon after WWII, she married Charles Stewart. Together they resided in Speedway, IN, where they raised their two sons. In 1985 they returned to Maryville, TN. Here they retired, traveled, entertained, and re-established old friendships.

Charlotta became a widow in 2001 and stayed in Maryville until 2016 when she moved to Indianapolis to be close to her son, Vic. During the next six years she suffered with gradually worsening Dementia, which was the primary cause of her passing.

Charlotta spent 25 years as a manager of an auto parts store in Indianapolis, IN. Once she returned to Maryville, she worked in a local craft store and shared her love of sewing, crafting and jewelry with those around the area. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Alcoa.

Charlotta is survived by her son Vic Stewart and her brother Ted (Nancy) Snelson, both of Indianapolis, IN; and grandchildren Christopher, Kylee, and Alexa Stewart, and Michael Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Stewart, son Ronnie Stewart, and sister Carmalee Easter.

A family graveside service will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, TN, on August 13, 2022. Greg Long will conduct the services.
