Carl S. Waters

WATERS, Carl S., age 92 of Maryville, TN, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Joseph David and Lula Yearout Waters, a member of Logan’s Chapel United Methodist Church, and a life-long resident of Maryville. Carl worked at ALCOA for seventeen years and advanced to the position of Electrical Shift Foreman. He was a respected businessman and community leader and, early in his career, served as an elected member of the Blount County Court. He was a co-owner of Economy Coal Company, a partner in Waters Bonding Company and Tener and Waters Rentals, and owner of Waters Rental Agency. He was also an active land developer in Blount County. He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty years, Grace Bailey Waters; his daughter, Janet Waters of Maryville, TN; his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Carole Waters of Tuscaloosa, AL; his granddaughter, Callie Waters, and his grandson and wife, Griff and Crissi Waters of Tuscaloosa, AL; one sister, Mary Sue Thames of Maryville; one sister-in-law, Alma Bailey of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews. Family visitation, graveside services and interment will be held at Logan’s Chapel United Methodist Church in the Wildwood Community at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 9 with Rev. Kim Isley officiating.
