Carl J. Ihlenfeld

October 28, 1910 — March 26, 2010

Carl J. Ihlenfeld- age 99, departed this life on Friday, March 26, 2010 at Blount Memorial Transitional Care Center. A native of Butler, PA, he was a retired meteorologist with the National Weather Service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in North Africa and Italy from 1941 to 1945. Preceded in death by his parents, Carl J. and Naomi Kelly Ihlenfeld; step-mother, Janet Reno Ihlenfeld; brothers, Richard, Robert, and John Ihlenfeld; step-brother, William Reno; sisters, Janet Schnitzer and Ruth Murphey; daughter-in-law, Elaine Ihlenfeld. Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Sara (Sally) Ihlenfeld; sons, Jim of Spring Hill, TN, and Bruce of Maryville; daughter-in-law, Maxine Ihlenfeld; granddaughters, Sara Ogle and Laura Ferguson, and great-granddaughter, Cadence Ogle. In his spare time Mr. Ihlenfeld was an avid woodworker. He was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2010. The family will receive friends following the service. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund at St. Paul Lutheran Church. McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville, TN
