Carl Edward Stephens

STEPHENS, Carl Edward, age 88 of Sarasota, FL, died Friday, November 23, 2001, in Sarasota. He was born on January 27,1913 in Crestview, TN and moved to Sarasota in 1959 from Nashville. He was an attorney for Genesco Shoe Corp., and had been an American history teacher and high school football coach at Lenoir City High School. He received a master’s degree in education at Milligan College, where he was a star quarterback and a law degree from the University of Tennessee. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Sarasota. Survivors include a daughter, Judy A. Middleton of Sarasota; a son, Kenneth of Sarasota; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Broadway United Methodist Church with Rev. James Dougherty officiating. The interment will follow in Lenoir City Cemetery.
