Billy R. Bowers, of Greeneville, TN, born October 3, 1935, in Townsend, TN, died September 29, 2018. He was the son of the late Charlie and Lona Bell Gregory Bowers and a descendant of Henry Whitehead and Russell Gregory of Cades Cove. He attended Greeneville Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a graduate of the University of Tennessee and employed by Nuclear Fuel Services for 35 years as a staff accountant. Bill enjoyed watching and caring for wildlife, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen McTeer Bowers; daughters and sons-in-law, Paige and Tim Mallicoat and Sabella and Jerry Sauceman; grandchildren, Ben, Claire, and Paul Mallicoat and Caroline and Emma Sauceman; sister, Helen Moyers; brother and wife, Gerald and Kathy Bowers; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Boyd , Virginia Burris; brother-in-law and wife, James and Betty McTeer; nephews and wives, Greg and Linda Moyers, Don and Amy Moyers, David Boyd, Larry McTeer, John and Rachel Burris, Rob and Stephannie Burris; nieces and husbands, Michelle and Tray Allen, Susan and Roger Lowry, Betsy Burris; several great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Townsend, with Shane Hoover officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cades Cove Preservation Association, P. O. Box 213, Alcoa, TN 37701.
