Betty Marie Brown Whitehead

Betty Marie Brown Whitehead, 85, of Alcoa TN went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2015. She passed away in Fayetteville, GA after a brief illness. Betty grew up in Blount County, Tennessee and graduated from Walland High School. She attended Maryville College where she met her beloved husband, Earvil Whitehead. They were married September 13, 1948. Betty and Earvil's love flourished for over 67 years and their marriage has been a beautiful illustration for everyone in their lives. Professionally, Betty excelled in interior design and sales, but she will be remembered most for her success in real estate. Her servant's heart and thirst for knowledge made her a leader among her industry. Betty held many leadership positions on The Blount County Association of Realtors. She was also involved with the Board of Directors and served on various committees both locally and statewide. She retired in 2006. Betty was a member of First Baptist of Alcoa. She loved the Lord and was a student of His word. She treasured her family and had 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who affectionately refer to her as, "Nana". Betty has left this earth with a legacy of great love, godliness, hard work, intelligence, and honesty. Cherishing Betty's memory is her devoted husband, Earvil Whitehead, Fayetteville, GA; her sisters, Teresa Saylers and Vivian Cunningham; her children, Philip Whitehead, Knoxville, TN; Lynn Whitehead and wife Hamby, Denver, CO; Karen Rose and husband Thomas, Maryville, TN; Michael Whitehead and wife Irene, Broomfield, CO; Alan Whitehead and wife Lori, Centennial, CO; Janine Updyke and husband Jay, Fayetteville, GA; her grandchildren, Scott Whitehead and wife Katherine, Matthew Whitehead and wife Sandi; Bryan Whitehead and wife Nicole; Jason Whitehead; Emily Whitehead; Leslie McCutchan and husband Brett; Brad Adams and wife Katie; Sarah Smith and husband Barry; Melissa Collins and husband Lance; Kelli Whitehead and husband Josh; Kristi Hair and husband Phillip; Katie Whitehead; Justin Rose and wife Alexis; Ben Adams; Matthew Whitehead; Michael Whitehead; and her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Laura, Madison, Mia , Lilly, Ava, Serenity, Walle, Layla, and Thomas. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Melvin Brown and Mary Elizabeth Roberts Brown, her brother, Robert Brown and her great-grandson, Tyler Irwin. Celebration of life will be held at 1pm at First Baptist of Alcoa on Friday March 20. A graveside service will follow at Grandview Cemetery at 3pm.
