Taylor, Betty Lou Mitchell, age 76, of Knoxville, TN, passed away Friday, April 27, 2007 at UT Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1930 in Sheridan, WY to Eva Fern Phillips and Vern Willard Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Dorothy Roberts Wilson. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Richard Rolland Taylor; daughters Diane Carol Taylor Duke (Randy) of Charlotte, NC and Cathy Ann Taylor of Springerville, AZ; son Douglas Vern Taylor (Connie) of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren Shannon Elizabeth Duke Horton (Jared) of Charlotte, NC, Trevor Thomas Duke (Mary) of King George, VA, Rachael Corrine, Patricia Camille and Angela Paige Taylor of Huntsville, AL; a special cousin Shannon Masters Meyer (Don) of Omaha, NE. Betty was a loving, active wife, mother and grandmother who never met a stranger. She had many friends through her involvement with her church, First United Methodist Church, where she volunteered weekly, her golfing friends at Deane Hill and Green Meadow Country Clubs, and her dear friends of PEO, a philanthropic organization. Her favorite activities were spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, and music. She spent many years locally and nationally with the Girl Scouts of America. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at First United Methodist Church of Knoxville, followed by a visitation in the Fellowship Hall.
