Betty Jo Miller

Betty Jo Miller, age 85 of Greenback, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014, at her home in Greenback. She was a longtime member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Preceded in death by her father, Joseph McCauley; mother, Della Dotson; brothers, Sid McCauley, Jay McCauley, Archy McCauley, Boyd Tipton, Ardele Tipton and sister, Elizabeth Tipton; first husband, Tom Martin; second husband, Ervin Miller; son, John Sherrill; grandsons, Greg Stokes and Bryan Sherrill. Survivors include: daughters, Marjorie (Jesse) Stokes and Carol (Frank) Hipps of Greenback; grandchildren, Rick and Rose Stokes of Lenoir City, Jamie and Lisa Hipps of Maryville, Steve Stokes of Maryville, Jesse Stokes of Greenback and Rebecca Hipps of Greenback; great grandchildren, Ambrose and Heather Covington of Lenoir City, Nick and Autumn Stokes of Florida, Seth Stokes, Faith Stokes and Kaylee Hipps of Maryville; great-great grandchildren, Malachi Covington, Xavier Covington, and Mya Covington; many nephews and nieces; special sister-in-law, Georgy Ford. Special thanks to the Blount Memorial Hospice and staff and Dewayne Garrett for always singing her favorite song, Lily of the Valley. Her grandsons will be carrying her to her final resting place, Rick Stokes, Jamie Hipps, Steve Stokes, Jesse Stokes, Kevin Russell, David LeQuire, Ambrose Covington and Anthony Harris. Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with Rev. Grayson Garrett officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Pine Grove Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
