Betty Ann Baxter Cox passed away Monday, August 12 at the age of 87. Betty was a member of Middlesettlements United Methodist Church. She loved and was loved by her church family. Betty worked as a streamstress at Levi Strauss & Co. where she was later chosen to be a Retiree Coordinator. This tight-knit group was very active, donating their time and resources to many non-profit organizations in Blount County. She had a passion for traveling and seeing new places with her sisters and many close friends. She was the happiest when surrounded by her large, loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Sharkey” Cox; her parents Sam and Jewel Baxter; brother John Baxter and sister Melba Bruce. She is survived by her daughter Bridget Jenkins; son Kim Cox and wife Betsy; grandchildren Holly (Brian) Child, Courtney (TJ) Hammontree, Katie (Seth) Sumner, and Charlie (Rachael) Cox; great grandchildren Conner Landers, Sarah Child, Emily Child, Abby Hammontree, Tanner Lamb, Georgia Sumner, Carol Mason Sumner, and Rayden Lamb; brother Don (Billie) Baxter; sisters Genny Kidd and Roma (Melvin) Bridges. She is also survived by nieces Dr. Lori Baxter, Edna Lynn Cooper, Brenda Crisp, Koky McCall, and Vicki Bryant; nephews Wayne Baxter, Preston Baxter, and Bradley Baxter. Funeral services will be at 7 pm Thursday at McAmmon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 11 am Friday at Middlesettlements Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday at McAmmon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Middlesettlements United Methodist Church, 2729 Middlesettlements Road, Maryville, TN 37801.
