Bertie Iona Herriage

Bertie Iona Cluck Herriage, age 91, passed away at her home in Alcoa. A Christian and longtime member of Central Baptist Church of Alcoa, went home to be with our Lord and Savior March 23, 2004. Miss Bertie was preceded in death by her husband, William Hubert Herriage; mother and father, Bertha Sanders Cluck and Jacob P. Cluck, and the mother that raised her, Annie Reeves and brother, the Rev. William Paul Cluck. She leaves to cherish her memory son, Ron and daughter- in-law Rori Herriage of Molena, Georgia; daughter, Myrna Sue Martin of Alcoa; grandchildren, Micheal Martin and family of Lenior City; Lori Hembree and family, Paul Martin and family and Brandon Herriage all of Maryville, Rhonda Wittmer and family of Knoxville and Caleb Herriage of Molena, GA.; sister, Georgia Lee and husband Hugh Evans of Maryville. She had six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews and many special friends. Miss Bertie worked at Asbury Acres for 23 years. She also volunteered at Blount Memorial Hospital were she had retired as a Super Star. She was a member of a local political women’s club, the ladies quilting group at Pleasant Hills Methodist Church and a Sunday school teacher for many years. All donations may be made to the Building Fund of Central Baptist Church in Alcoa. Funeral services will be held at Central Baptist Church in Alcoa at 2:30 Thursday with the Rev. Greg Kelly and the Rev. George Gilbert officiating. The interment will follow in Middlesettlements cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 Thursday at the church.
