Ben H. Lee

Ben Herman Lee of Maryville died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at Asbury Place Retirement Center. Born December 30, 1915 in Electric Mills, MS., he was the son of Ben Lee and Virgie Nicholson Lee. He graduated Georgia Tech University in 1941 in Industrial Management, and immediately began a career at Alcoa that exceeded 40 yrs. Ben was a long-time member of Kiwanis and volunteered on numerous projects benefiting local charities in the Blount County area. Ben had fond memories of his golfing buddies at Green Meadow CC where he was a member for over 50 yrs. He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church for over 70 yrs. He is survived by his 2 children and their spouses; Roberta J. (Robin) Lee Goddard (James E. Goddard) of Maryville and Ben David Lee (Priscilla C. Lee) of Brentwood, TN. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Noel Goddard and Ginny Lee. He died of a broken heart only 10 days after his wife Harriette passed away. They were married for 75 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mildred Lee McCampbell. Family graveside services will be held at Grandview Memorial Cemetery. A Celebration of his Life and of Harriettes life will be held at a later date at Broadway United Methodist Church.
