Barney Brooks Patton

PATTON, Barney Brooks, age 89 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member and former Deacon of New Providence Presbyterian Church. He was an avid baseball player, fan and sportsman. He worked at the Sylvania Plant in Fredericksburg, VA before joining ALCOA. He retired from ALCOA with over 37 years of service and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Patton Galloway; his father, Dr. Henry W. Patton; his mother, Sadie Cowley Patton; 3 brothers and one sister. Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Messer Patton; son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Laura Patton of Flint Hill, VA; son, James B. Patton of Maryville; grandchildren, Eric and Sandy Patton, of Linden, VA, Lisa and Thomas Thornton of Lake Orion, MI, Byron III and Mollie Galloway of Woodbridge, VA; great-granddaughters, Kimberly Ann Thornton, Sarah Beth Thornton, and Catherine Grace Galloway; sister, Ferrell Gallahan of Fredericksburg, VA; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Sunday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Philip Bembower officiating. The interment will follow in Clarks Grove Cemetery.
