Barbara Louise Gilmer Bailes

Barbara Louise Gilmer Bailes, age 86, passed away on Monday, November 14th, at MorningView Home in Maryville, TN. She was preceded in death by her father James Samuel Gilmer, Jr., mother Jesse Lee of Knoxville, sister Betty Jayne Robert, and her infant brother Sam. Barbara was raised in Lincoln Park, Knoxville, where she began singing in her church's choir at age twelve. She married her devoted and loving husband R.W. "Bob" Bailes in 1950 at Lincoln Park Methodist Church. Barbara was survived by her husband, children Mark (Jan), Robby (Dawn), Amy (Keith), Kelly (Tina), and Scotty; her grandchildren Casey (Jennifer), Kelly Jo (Carlos), Leah, Andy, Meg, Tyler (Nicole), Sam, Mac (Samantha), Annie, Ellie, and Jake; her great-grandchildren Addison, Carter, Josie, Evelyn, and a baby boy on the way; and many special cousins, nieces, and nephews. Services will be held at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, in Maryville, at 6 pm Wednesday, November 16th, with Dr. Jerry Russell officiating. Receiving of friends will follow the service. Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Grandview Cemetery, in Maryville, for the interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nanny Bailes Scholarship Fund at Learning Tree Preschool at Fairview United Methodist Church.
