Barbara Grace Melton

Barbara Grace Melton, age 90, a resident of Maryville, TN went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Barbara was born and raised in McMinn County TN but lived most of her life in Maryville, TN. She was dearly loved by her family and friends.

Barbara was a long-time member of Broadway Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and loved the fellowship of the ladies in Mrs. Ruth Cole’s Sunday school class. She loved bowling, hiking and traveling throughout the world. Barbara retired from AT&T after 40 years of service. Upon retirement, Barbara continued to serve her community through volunteer work at Blount Memorial Hospital and the Chilhowee Baptist Center in Maryville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Reed (W.R.) and Lela (Dodson) Melton, sisters-in-law Geneva Firestone Melton and Sharon Watson Melton and nephew Adam Melton.

She is survived by her brothers, Reed Melton and Danny Melton of Calhoun, TN; nieces, Kelly Fowler (husband Larry) and Karla Walker; nephew, Nathan Melton (wife Mandi); great-nephews: Reggie Walker, Ben Fowler, Waylon Melton, Zachary Melton, Seth Melton and Joshua Melton all of Calhoun, TN and special cousins, Sue Deakin (husband Buck) and Donna Dowdy (husband R.L.) all of Maryville, TN and many special friends she met along the way including those at Broadway Baptist, Parkview Retirement Community and Brookdale Sandy Springs.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm followed by a celebration of life service at 4:00 pm at Broadway Baptist Church in Maryville, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Broadway Baptist Church TV Ministry.
