Anna Lou Fugate Wilson

Anna Lou Fugate Wilson - age 94, formerly of Maryville, TN, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at Life Care Center in Collegedale, TN. Anna Lou (Ann) was born on September 1, 1923 in Claiborne County, TN to Gillus and Rosa Friar Fugate. She came to Blount County in the early 1940s to work in the war effort at ALCOA, where she met her future husband and the love of her life, Fred Lee Wilson. Ann was a graduate of Hiwassee and Tennessee Wesleyan Colleges. She retired from Blount County School System after teaching 4th grade at Lanier Elementary School for 25 years. Ann was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church where she served as President of the Senior Adult Group for a number of years. Ann loved her family, her friends, her church, traveling, and her wild flower garden. Ann was predeceased in death by her husband of 57 years, Fred Lee Wilson, along with her parents, Gillus and Rosa Fugate, her brothers, William, Henry and Thomas Fugate and her sister, Margret Fugate. Ann is survived by daughters, Rosemary and husband, James (Jim) Owens of Knoxville, TN; and Sheila and husband, David Singleton of Ooltewah, TN; grandchildren, Jim Owens, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Stanley, NC; Terri Owens Llinas and husband, Joseph of Cocoa Beach, FL; and Angela Singleton Walton and husband, Joel of Ooltewah, TN. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Gabriela and Joseph Llinas and Hannah and Hunter Walton, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Grace Fugate, of Tazewell, TN and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 3, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville, with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
