Agnes Marie Baird Rochelle Pendleton

Pendleton, Agnes Marie Baird Rochelle, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Morningview Transitional Care in Maryville, TN. She was born to Laduska and James Dallas Baird on March 14th, 1918. She graduated from Randolph County High School in Roanoke Alabama and then moved to Atlanta, Ga to attend beauty school. Agnes met and married John Hurt Rochelle a pharmacist in Atlanta. They had two children a daughter, Glenn Marie and a son, John Hurt Jr. (Rocky). They moved from Atlanta to the Stone Mountain Community in Clarkston, Ga where they resided for 8 years. She was very involved in the Clarkston Methodist Church. Widowed in 1956, Agnes met and married John Emerson Pendleton Sr. And moved to Fountain City in 1960. They resided on Tazwell Pike in Knoxville, Tn and attended Fountain City United Methodist Church. After John’s death in 1988, Agnes moved to Maryville, residing in the Jamestown condominiums for 14 years. She later moved to the Morningview Village Assisted Living where she lived for almost 4 years. She was of Maryville First United Methodist Church and an active member of the Shields Sunday School Class. Agnes was preceded in death by parents, Sarah Laduska Swan and James Dallas Baird, 2 sisters; Elizabeth Baird Garner Vinson of Birmingham, Al and Roanoke Al, and Susan Baird Huckaby of Knoxville, TN and Charlotte, NC. Survived by: daughter, Glenn Marie Rochelle Hofmann and son-in-law, Kenneth M. Hoffman of Norcross, Ga and son, John Hurt (Rocky) Rochelle and daughter-in-law, Julie Bramblett Rochelle of Alcoa, Tn; grandchildren, Katy Rochelle Jett and husband William Craig Jett of Powell, TN, James Thomas Rochelle and wife Jean Patton Rochelle of Wapakoneta, OH, Marie Hofmann Seals Bauer of Hilton Head, SC, and Mary Beth Hofmann Slepsky and husband Jon Carl Slepsky of Roswell, GA. Seven great-grandchildren Ryan Seals, Cody and Dalton Jett, Tyler and Rebecca Rochelle, Natalie and Emily Slepsky; sister, Hortense (Toni) Baird Cornwell of Canton, Ga and brother James Dallas Baird, Jr. And wife Jerry Baird of Roanoke, AL, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral in Maryville, TN on Monday, March 5th, 2007 from 6:00-7:30pm with memorial service to follow with Rev. Brenda and Larry Carroll officiating. Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke, AL will have a receiving of friends on Tuesday, March 6th, 2007 at 2:00 pm CST. Interment will be in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke, AL immediately following.
