Vance Baron Walker, age 94, of Maryville, passed away March 25, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living. Vance is survived by Maxine C. Walker, the love of his life, and daughters Sharon (Mike) Ware, Judy (David) Tolliver, Debbie Jones, Beth (Billy) Dale, and Jennifer (Tim) Manley, 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, brothers Max (Dixie) Walker, and Jack (Vonnie) Walker, and sister Mary Elizabeth Walker French. He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar L. and Nora (McNeilly) Walker, brothers Oscar, Gene, and Harvey Walker. His life and personal Interactions will be cherished in the lives of his family, friends, and acquaintances. Vance's full life included countless family outings especially to his place on Little River, travel to 46 of our 50 states, overseas vacations in European countries, Panama, and several Caribbean destinations. Vance served as a deacon and in leadership roles at Everett Hills Baptist Church where he was a member for 70 years. He served as a Trustee at Carson Newman College. During World War II he worked for the Aluminum Company of America until joining the US Army Air Corps where he was a radio operator. Returning to ALCOA after the war, Vance ultimately retired in 1983 with a total of 43 years. He was a Master Mason in good standing with New Providence Masonic Lodge for 68 years. For decades, he was a member of the Calderwood Hardee's breakfast group of close friends. After working the daily Sudoku, he could be counted on for a joke or colorful story of his adventures in and around Walland. The family of Vance Walker requests that you spend time with your children, build enduring friendships, and travel to see as much of God's creation as possible. That is what Vance would wish for you. The receiving of friends will be Tuesday, March 28, 2017, from 5:00-7:00 PM at McCammon-Ammons - Click Funeral Home with the Celebration of Life to follow with Dr. John Franklin officiating. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at 11 :00 AM at West Miller's Cove Baptist Church Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Henry Russell officiating.
