Patricia Anne Brown Cloninger, age 74, passed away Sunday March 13th. She had lived in Maryville for the past ten years after residing in Knoxville for many decades. She shared her home with her daughter Amy and friend Catherine. She also leaves behind son and daughter-in-law Bryan and Karla Cloninger of Colquitt, GA and beloved granddaughters Emily and Anna Beth Cloninger; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Judy Brown of Jackson, TN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Freeman and Evelyn Brown of Knoxville, TN. She was retired after nearly three decades of employment at South Central Bell and AT and T. She was a ray of sunshine and her wit and laughter will be greatly missed. She was dedicated to her family and especially proud of her two granddaughters. She loved cooking and gardening, taking great joy in her oversized vegetable gardens, and was one of the first state-certified organic farmers in East Tennessee. She had a particular soft spot for children and animals. She volunteered countless hours to animal rescue projects and shared her home with dozens of stray pets over her lifetime, offering them love and care. She always had a smile, a hug, a meal, a blanket, or comforting words for any person or animal in need. There will be a memorial service at 2 pm Saturday, April 2nd, at New Providence Presbyterian Church in Maryville. The family will receive friends in the atrium of the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Blount County Humane Society 865-382-7652 (www.blountcountyhumanesociety.org) or PPAW of Greenback TN 865-856-7729 (www.ppawspayneuterclinic.com).
