James Victor Bailey

BAILEY, James Victor, age 93 of Alcoa, passed away Friday, December 17, 2004, at Asbury Place. He was a devout member of Second United Methodist Church in Knoxville for 50 years. He retired from ALCOA after 44 years of service and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club. As a World War II veteran, he served in the U. S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Independence in the South Pacific for 3 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Atherton Bailey; parents, Riley and Callie Bailey; brothers, Burl and Edward Bailey; and great granddaughter, Brennah Renee Young. Survivors include his son, Dr. Marvin Victor Bailey and wife Bobbie of Maryville; daughter, Janet Carlson and husband Jim of Herndon, VA; granddaughters and husbands, Shannon and Brian Henley of Gainesville, VA, Kelly and Allen Young of Maryville; grandsons, Robby Lollar and wife Heather of Maryville, Troy Carlson of Oakton, VA, Adam Carlson and wife Lelia stationed at the USMC Air Station at Iwo Kunei, Japan; great grandsons, Gavin Young and Nicholas Henley; nephew, Dr. C. Barton Haggard, Jr. and wife Wilma of Seymour, TN; and special niece, Barbara Haggard Epperson of Montgomery, AL; special friends, Henegar and Austin Shamblin, and Kenneth and Joyce O’Connor. A very special thanks to the Staff of Quality Care Retirement. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald McFarland officiating. The interment will follow in Middlesettlements Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
