Florence Ellen Thompson Wood

Florence Ellen (“Tootie”) Thompson Wood, 81, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away peacefully in the company of family early Sunday morning, September 18, 2022, in Maryville, TN. She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald W. Wood, father Robert M. Thompson, mother Irene Cates Thompson, and brother Robert M. Thompson, Jr. Ellen is survived by her sister Mary Ann Thompson of Denver, CO and Gerald’s children Debora Pecora (Gerald) of Floral Park, NY, David Wood (Ann) of Stow, OH, and Donna Myers (Tom) of Wilsonville, OR, and Gerald’s grandchildren Lyndsay Burns (Michael) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Wednesday and Jillian Wood both of Akron, OH. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Nancy Thompson of Maryville, brother-in-law Robert Wood of Northfield, OH, nieces Rebekah (Kyle) and Laura Thompson, and Elizabeth (David) Ballard, nephews Richard (Carmen) and Matthew (Phuong) Brownlie, and many beloved cousins, friends, and neighbors.

Ellen was born in Maryville June 19, 1941, and lived several years in Cleveland, OH before moving to Cincinnati where she worked many years with the Internal Revenue Service. She enjoyed taking road trips with her husband to try new restaurants, keeping an immaculate home, Boston and Scottish terriers (and all dogs big and small), and most of all spending time with family and friends. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Condolences can be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
