Barbara Joyce Powell

Barbara Joyce Powell, 72, of Maryville, passed away on January 2, 2023, at U.T. Medical Center surrounded by her devoted sisters. Barbara lived an extraordinary life and impacted the lives of her family and friends more than words can adequately describe. She never met a stranger, loved everyone, and charmed her way into the hearts of everyone she met. She loved her family, friends at Open Door, and especially her loyal and devoted caregiver of nearly 12 years, Kathy Brewer.

Barbara was preceded in death by parents, Charles J. Powell and Charlotte R. Powell; paternal grandparents, Charlie D. Powell and Marietta Powell; maternal grandparents, Len Kagley and Nora Kagley. She is survived by sisters, Teresa Sterchi (John), Cindy Harmon (Brett), and Traci Wolfenbarger (Randy); nieces, Heather Harmon, Hillary Harmon, Rachel Walling (Nathan); nephew, Brandon Wolfenbarger.

The family is forever grateful to Barbara’s devoted caregivers: Kathy Brewer, Janet Oliver, Angela Boyd, Vickie Durbin, Debbie Holt, Becky Holland, and Ginger Nuchols for their love, patience, compassion, and wonderful care. You enriched Barbara’s life and became part of our family.

A celebration of Barbara’s extraordinary life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Rio Revolution, 3419 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville. A private interment will be held.
